Reed misinformed the voters by stating there are 'no indoor spaces in Truro capable of accommodating more than 105 voters...' yet the capacity of the Community Center is 421, the School Gym is 301, the COA Lounge is 136, the School Library is 114 and the School Cafeteria is 108, for a total capacity of 1080.
Voter Clark (at 8:25) asked about 'remote participation' by voters.
Attorney Georgio (at 8:43) confused 'remote participation' by voters from home with holding a meeting with voters in 2 places, e.g., our Community Center and the School, which MA General Law Chapter 39 Section 10 plainly allows: 'The town meeting may be held in one or more places; provided, that if it is held in more than one place, the places are connected by means of a public address system and loud speakers so that the proceedings in all such places may be heard and participated in by all the voters present therein.'
Voters were left with the impression that a technology solution proposed by voter Forgione is not lawful, and therefore a town meeting must be held out of Truro.
Voter Hickey tried to raise this as a point of information, but Reed shouted 'point of order' and the Moderator proceeded to a vote.
The motion then passed after a teller recount by a small margin of only 16 votes, 139 to 123.
